Scary Jell-O Delights

POTTY JELLO

Purchase the plastic bowl that fits in a child's potty training chair (they sell them at places like KMart).  Wash the bowl and prepare lemon jello per package directions.  Float miniature O-Henry bars in it, refrigerate, and
serve.

DAIQUIRI JELL-O

Large Box (or two smalls) Lime Jell-O
2 cups boiling water
1+1/4 cup cold water
1/4 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup Dark Rum
1/4 cup Light Rum

Mix the usual way.

STRAWBERRY-BANANA DAIQUIRI JELL-O

Large box of Strawberry-Banana Jell-O
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold water
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup Triple Sec
1/2 cup Rum

Mix the usual way.

NOTES:  These are tasty. The 3/4 cup of liquor gives it a little more kick.
Good and tasty.  I've been making them in 2-oz. plastic "salsa cups" (those
little wide shallow ones you get condiments in) and a batch makes about 19 of
them.

Halloween Worms

1 pkg. (6 oz.) raspberry or grape flavor gelatin
3 envelopes unflavored gelatin
3 cups boiling water
100 flexible plastic straws
1 tall (same height as extended straws), slend 4 cup container
3/4 cup whipping cream
12 to 15 drops green food coloring

In a bowl, combine gelatins. Add boiling water; stir until gelatins completely dissolve. Chill until lukewarm, about 20 min. Meanwhile, gently pull straws to extend to full length; place in tall container. Blend cream and food coloring with the lukewarm gelatin mixture. Pour into container, filling straws. Chill until gelatin is firm, at least 8 hours, or cover and chill up to 2 days. Pull straws from container (if using a carton, tear carton away from
straws). Pull straws apart; run hot tap water for about 2 seconds over 3 to 4 straws at a time. Starting at the empty ends, push worms from straws with rolling pin, or use your fingers; lay worms on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Cover and chill until ready to use, at least 1 hour or up to 2 days. Worms will hold at room temp. up to 2 hours.

Dinosaur Eggs

2 (6 oz ) pkgs lime gelatin powder
     2 1/2 cups boiling water
     1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
     1 cup cold milk
1 (3.4 oz) pkg instant vanilla pudding mix
     alfalfa sprouts -- optional

In a large bowl, dissolve gelatin in boiling water; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Stir in      cinnamon. In a large measuring cup with a spout, beat milk and pudding mix until blended, about 1 minute. Quickly whisk into gelatin until smooth. Pour into a 13x9x2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until firm. Cut into ovals or use an egg-shaped cookie cutter. Serve over alfalfa sprouts if desired.

NOTES : May also be made in Jell-O Jigglers egg mold.

Coat the inside and rim of each egg mold with cooking spray. Securely close each egg mold. Place mold, fill side up on a tray. After whisking pudding mixture into gelatin, immediately pour it into the mold through fill holds just to the top of the egg shape. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until firm. To unmold eggs, slide a dull, flat knife between eggs. Gently pry between each egg (do not pull the handle). Turn mold over and shake gently to remove eggs.

AQUARIUM JELLO

Great idea for a simple dessert at kid's parties!

     goldfish bowl, nice and clean
red hots or Jelly Belly gravel beans
     blue Jello
     ice cubes
     cold water
     purple endive
     parsley sprigs
     gummy fish

Use a new or well cleaned goldfish bowl. In the bottom, the original recipe called for red-hots as the 'gravel', but I plan to use the Jelly Belly beans  that look like rocks. Mix up as much blue Jello as your bowl will hold. Mix
using ice cubes & cold water instead of the cold water called for on the box. Pour this into the bowl over a knife blade or something to keep from disturbing the gravel. If you want it to have 'seaweed', poke a couple of
wooden skewers to push gummy fish into different parts of the bowl. If you're going to be able to supervise the
serving, you could even add a plastic diver man, etc.

TOXIC AQUARIUM JELLO

Well, what we'd do for a Halloween party would be to make a Toxic Aquarium. Mix orange and blue jello to get a putrid shade of green. Lifesavers make old tires and you can toss in other junky things for trash on the bottom of  the sea. Something barrel-shaped for that illegally dumped toxic waste. Float your fish upside-down on top, and add a plastic skeleton or two.

JACK-O'-LANTERN PIE

Stir boiling water into gelatin in medium bowl 2 minutes or until completely dissolved. Spoon in ice cream, stirring until melted and smooth. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Spoon into crust. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Just before serving, make jack-o-lantern face on pie with whipped topping, candy corn and licorice. Store leftover pie in refrigerator.

Eyeball Potion

8 oz Frozen whipped topping, thawed
Blueberries or raisins
1 1/2 c Boiling water
1 lg Pkg gelatin - any red flavor
1 c Cold water
Ice cubes

Using a small ice-cream scoop, place 2 scoops whipped topping into each of 10 dessert dishes for "eyeballs." Place a blueberry or raisin  in each scoop for the "pupil." Freeze 30 minutes, or until firm.
Meanwhile, stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least two minutes until completely dissolved. Mix cold water and ice cubes to make 2-1/2 cups. Add to gelatin, stirring until slightly thickened. Remove any remaining ice. Pour about 1/2 cup gelatin around the two  "eyeballs" in each dish, leaving the top of the "eyeballs" exposed. Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours, or until firm.
